リーチ マイケル

1988年10月7日、ニュージーランド クライストチャーチ生まれ。5歳からラグビーを始め、2004年、15歳の時に来日し札幌山の手高校に留学。東海大学へ進学し在学中の2008年、20歳で日本代表入りを果たす。2011年、現・東芝ブレイブルーパス東京に入団。同年、日本代表としてラグビーワールドカップ2011ニュージーランド大会に出場。そして、ラグビーワールドカップ2015イングランド大会、ラグビーワールドカップ2019日本大会には日本代表のキャプテンとして出場した。2023年ラグビーワールドカップ2023フランス大会出場。2025年ジャパンラグビー リーグワン2024-25シーズン優勝し、リーグワン初の連覇を達成。信念は「神に誓うな、己に誓え。」

Born on October 7, 1988, in Christchurch, New Zealand. He began playing rugby at the age of five, and in 2004, at the age of fifteen, he came to Japan to study abroad at Sapporo Yamanote High School. He went on to Tokai University and, while still a student, was selected for the Japan national team in 2008 at the age of twenty. In 2011, he joined what is now Toshiba Brave Lupus Tokyo. That same year, he competed in the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand as a member of the Japan national team. He then participated as captain of Japan in the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England and the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan. He also took part in the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France. In the 2024–25 season of Japan Rugby League One, he led the team to victory in 2025, achieving the league’s first-ever consecutive championship titles. His creed is: “Do not swear to God, swear to yourself.”
